Wisdom of the Animals (Book)
Audrey read this book. Here are some basic ideas she took away from the book:
· all children can communicate naturally with animals, however, they "lose it" as they are continously not validated by adults
· we can communicate with trees/flowers/rocks/all aspects of nature
· telepathic communication can be confirmed by behavior changes by the animal
· we must quiet the mind first
(there is a connection to Tibetan Buddhist meditation here! ~Audrey)
· animals have spiritual nature, awareness
· to communicate with an animal: sit down with an animal, observe them, put aside your human preconceptions and open yourself to that animal’s being…then follow where the animal leads
Communication with animals can be used as an opportunity to ask them if they are happy as companion animals, like birds

"when you begin talking with animals there is a sense of returning to a sacred space you were missing, without quite knowing what it was” (27)
...this is a spirituality that is natural, intrinsic…we are not performing a type of holiness...
What is animal communication like:
sometimes English words, most of the time: feelings/pictures/sensory impressions…aren’t humans doing this too?!
Animal communication not necessarily “taught,” but a teacher will help people to "remember" this skill
“don’t dwell on the past! Animals never do. They enjoy the present.” (222)
Audrey asks: "don’t animals grieve?"
What are the 2 main things that get in the way of people's ability to communicate with animals?
Mind chatter & self doubt
animal friends who regard physical confirmation as a pathetic concession to human insecurity

There is power in employing the imagination—you are not “making it up,” but using the mind’s creative faculties to turn subtle impressions in the depth of your mind into concrete, fully conscious images
“you must get past your doubt—it’s simply a waste of time”
